Rosette forming osteosarcoma: A case report
Objective: Osteosarcomas are the most common sarcomas of bone. Rarely, this tumor may appear epithelioid, including a rosette like configuration. We aimed to present a male patient which had a diagnosis of rosette forming osteosarcoma. Case report: Rosette forming osteosarcoma is a rare histological subtype of osteosarcoma that contains rosette configuration with production of matrix in the center. This tumor has poor prognosis. In this report, we present a case of a 10 year old man whose tumor in the distal femur diagnosed as rosette forming osteosarcoma with a brief review of the literature. Conclusion: Rosette forming osteosarcoma can be easily identified in routine histological slides without the need to use molecular approach. Rosette forming osteosarcomas have a poor prognosis; therefore those tumors should be distinguished from other osteosarcomas.
