Investigation of electrochemical reduction and oxidation behaviour of benzo (C) cinnoline and some of its derivatives on platinum electrode

Benzo[c]cinnoline and some of its derivatives were synthesized and their electrochemical behaviour was reported. Their reduction and oxidation on a platinum electrode in acetonitrile + tetrabutylammonium perchlorate (TBAP) system were studied using cyclic voltammetry and suitable mechanisms were proposed. Heterogeneous rate constants were determined for both reduction and oxidation reactions. Adsorption characteristics of the molecules on a platinum electrode were investigated.
