Investigation of Postgraduate Theses About The Pedagogical Content Knowledge in Turkey Between The Years 2015-2020
Education is in a transformation with the changing and developing world. It is important to examine the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK), which is at the center of the knowledge and competencies of teachers, who are the implementers of education in transformation. Therefore, in examining postgraduate thesis work published between 2015-2020 years in Turkey about the PCK to create an overall environment it is intended to guide researchers on the PCK. In this study, which has a qualitative design, meta-synthesis research method was used by adopting a qualitative understanding. According to the theses examined, it was observed that the studies increased in 2018 and 2019, the qualitative pattern was generally preferred, and the teachers and teacher candidates were mostly included as participants. In the studies, most of which are master's thesis, different methods such as concept map, card grouping map, drawing, reflective form and Pap-eR were used in addition to general data collection tools. It has been observed that theses on PCK mostly focused on mathematics and science, but not much in the verbal areas. In the theses, most of the components of PCK, understanding of students, knowledge of instructional strategies and subject area knowledge were examined. It was stated that the PCK levels of the participants in general were not at the desired level and that their components were in interaction. More work can be done in verbal areas related to PCK. At the same time, researchers can turn to studies that will reveal the relationship of PCK components in which students and faculty members participate.
