Çocukların Coğrafi Farkındalıkları: Montessori Eğitiminin Yansımaları

Bu araştırmada kozmik eğitimin verildiği Montessori anaokuluna devam eden çocuklar ile devletanaokuluna devam eden çocukların, Dünya ve coğrafi kavramlara yönelik farkındalıklarınınbelirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Ankara’nın Çankaya ilçesinde Montessoriyaklaşımı ile eğitim veren bir anaokulundaki 16 çocuk ile aynı ilçede Millî Eğitim BakanlığıProgramı’na göre eğitim veren bir devlet anaokulundaki 16 çocuk araştırmanın çalışma grubunuoluşturmuştur. Nitel desende yapılan bu araştırmanın verileri çocuklarla yapılan görüşmelersonucunda elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda, Montessori anaokuluna devam edençocukların Dünya’nın şekli, Dünya’nın hareketinin sonuçları, Ay’ın fazları, gece-gündüz oluşumuve yağmurun oluşumu ile ilgili daha fazla bilimsel anlayışa sahip oldukları bulunmuştur.

Geographical Awareness of Children: The Reflections of Montessori Education

The aim of this study is to investigate awareness levels of preschool children about the Earth and geographical concepts who attend Montessori kindergarten where the cosmic education is given and children who attend regular state kindergarten,. The study was conducted with 32 children, half of the participants attend Montessori kindergarten and the other half attend regular state kindergarten. The study is designed in a qualitative research design. The data of the research were obtained via interviews with children. According to the results of the study, children who attend the Montessori kindergarten have more scientific understanding of the Earth's shape, the results of the Earth's movement, the phases of the Moon, day-night cycle and rain formation.
