Bilginin aktarılmasında liyakat, ana kaynağın gösterilmesi, ilmî alıntı kurallarına riayet, muhatabın durumunun dikkate alınması ve ifade güzelliği gibi ilkeler ilmî çalışmaların olmazsa olmaz şartlarındandır.
