Maupassant'ın Türk yazan üzerindeki etkisi romanlarmdaki kimi yansımaları bir yana bırakırsak, daha çok yaşam felsefesi ile öykücülüğü üzerinde odaklanmıştır. Yaşama bakışta Maupassant etkilerinin ele alındığı çalışmada, Schopenhauer ile Nietzsche'nin karamsar ve hiççi felsefelerinin Fransız yazan aracılığıyla Yakup Kadri'yi nasıl geçtiği üzerinde durulmuştur. Ayrıca Maurice Barrès'nin benci felsefesini büyük ölçüde benimsemiş olan yazarın bu görüşü, Maupassant'dan aldığı diğer olumsuz görüşlerle nasıl uzlaştırıp ilişkilendirdiği ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, insana güvensizlik, yaşamın değersizliği, her şeye karşı takınan karamsar tutum, ölümün yüceltilmesi, yalnız kalma arsuzu gibi konularda her iki yazarın takındığı benzer tutum sergilenmeye çalışılmıştır.

The influences of Maupassant on Yakup Kadri can be shown on two points if we put away certain reflections in his novels: the philosophy with regard to life and the art to tell. In this work where the accent uniquely is put on the influences of the philosophy of Maupassant, the researcher tries to expose how pessimistic and nihilistic philosophy of Schopenhauer and Nietzsche are transmitted to Yakup Kadri by the intermediary of Maupassant. In addition, one sees that it is a matter with the Turkish writer the effort to reconcile and to put in correlation these pessimistic ideas and nihilists with philosophy égotiste of Maurice Barrés that the writer already had adopted. It is looked for also to expose the similar behavior of the two maintained writers with regard to the themes such as the mistrust against the man, the vanity of life, the pessimistic attitude against all the things, the vénération of the death, the desire of the solitude.
