The Usage of the Infinitive Construction in German

One‘s expressing himself and understanding the other party in an appropriate way depends on the rules of grammar used while communicating. In a communication realized by not taking grammar rules into consideration, people‘s understanding each other will become harder or they will misunderstand each other. In such a situation, a difficulty that can be faced is the individual‘s losing his confidence because of such concerns as “will it be wrong if I say so?”. If the language used in communication is not the native tongue, such negative things arise and so, the percentage of giving wrong message and misunderstanding the message increases. In this paper, we analyzed the infinitive constructions which are seen in various forms in German and that may cause misunderstandings since their meaning differs in each form, and we also tried to identify the points they differ from subordinate clauses.
