Obezitenin Cerrahi Tedavisi

Surgical Treatment of Obesity

Rapidly increasing rate of obesity may also cause an increase in obesity related comorbidities. Diet is a very important part in the treatment of obesity; despite it is very hard to accomplish in case of morbid obesity. So, bariatric surgery is carried out as a reliable and effective choice. Bariatric procedu-res are classified as restrictive, malabsorptive or combined according to their mechanism of action. Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy has an efficacy close to roux-n-y gastric bypass in terms of weight loss. Bacause of its ease to perform, succesful results and its redo surgery is more comfortable, sleeve gastrectomy technique is incrased in use. Obesity surgery provides weight loss and resolution of comorbid conditions. This has serious socioe-conomic implications. Patient adherence to postsurgical aspects of management is very important for long lasting weight loss. Lifelong follow-up is necessary because of nutritional deficiencies.
