Protection from Obesity in Childhood and Treatment Options.

There is an increasing trend of childhood obesity, which is a public health problem in our country and worldwide. Prevention and management of childhood obesity requires attention and cooperation of families, health care providers and other related stakeholders in the society. Simple approach-es which can be deployed for prevention of obesity include promotion of balanced diet, sleep hygiene and healthy lifestyle. The use of pharmacologi-cal agents in childhood obesity is recommended only in situations where intensive lifestyle modification regime has failed to limit weight gain and ameliorate comorbidities.
