Obesity and Psychiatry

Obesity is defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health. The basic cause of obesity is the disarrangement between the energy spent on physical activites and metabolism and quantity of the energy gained by the way of nutrition. Obesity is one of the serious public health problems and its prevalence has been increasing in recent years. Most of the resarch focus primarily on physiological aspects of obesity, igno-ring the psychological factors which may cause it. In this review, we aimed to study the relationship between obesity and psychological factors and psychiatric disorders.
