Geleneksel olarak “kültür” kavramı birtakım özellikleri öne çıkarılarak tanımlanmak is-tenilir; fakat bu yazıda bir tanım üzerinden hareket etmek yerine, karşıt iki özelliği ara-cılığıyla kültür olgusu anlaşılmaya çalışılacaktır. Nitekim “kültür” kavramı paradoksal bir şekilde hem bir değişim ve gelişimi ifade etmekte hem de korumacı bir özellik taşı-yacak şekilde kullanılmaktadır. Bu iki karşıt özelliğin birlikte kullanılma sebebi, “sistem” ve “kültür” kavramları arasında kurulacak ilişki aracılığıyla açıklanmaya çalışılacaktır. Kültür olgusunun anlaşılmasında kullanılacak diğer kavram çifti ise “dil” ve “aidiyet”tir. Kültür olgusunun aidiyet ile ilişkisi, bu olgunun bazı temel özelliklerinin ortaya konul-ması dışında, medeniyet ile olan ilişkisinin de çok yönlü olarak irdelenmesine fırsat vere-cektir. Diğer önemli olan nokta, “dil” ve “aidiyet” kavramlarının, kültür olgusunu nesnel bir şekilde yorumlayabilmemize olanak vermesidir. Amaç, kültür olgusunu her yönüyle açıklamaya yönelik bir tanım vermek yerine, onu belli bir açıdan incelemek ve özellikle de günlük yaşam içindeki yerini ve önemini ortaya koymaktır.

Traditionally, the concept of “culture” is intended to be defined by highlighting some of its features. However, in this article, instead of starting from a definition, the concept of cul-ture will be understood through its two opposite features. Indeed, the concept of “culture” is used paradoxically to express both change and development and a protective feature. The reason for using these two opposite features together will be explained through the relationship to be established between the concepts of “system” and “culture”. Another pair of concepts to be used in understanding the phenomenon of culture is “language” and “belonging”. The relationship between the phenomenon of culture and belonging will provide a multifaceted examination of its relationship with civilization, as well as reve-aling some of the basic characteristics of this phenomenon. Another important point is that the concepts of “language” and “belonging” allow us to interpret the phenomenon of culture objectively. The aim is not to give a definition that explains the phenomenon of culture in all aspects, but to examine it from a certain angle, especially to reveal its place and importance in daily life.
