Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar and the Aesthetics of Daily Life

This article endeavors to point up that how Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar assimilates the concepts of art, life and time in his works and that through these concepts how he constructs the aesthetics of ordinary life or aesthetics of the time. His works may be read as the proses which articulate the possibilities or the ways of carrying out life as an aesthetic unity. Possibly, the key word for all of his works can be summarized with one single sentence cited from his novel Serenity, "a life of a man could be beautiful as a work of art." This article hinges on this sentence to seek a style of life that can be called as aesthetical life in Tanpinar works by illuminating the concepts of experienced life and aesthetics of the time.
