Nietzsche'nin Demokrasi Düşüncesi Bakımından Önemi

Nietzsche's Importance with Respect to the Idea of Democracy

Nietzsche is not a typical political philosopher. Nevertheless, Nietzsche is an important philosopher for understanding the problems of modern political thought. Nietzsche considers that modern political thought is a part of traditional metaphysical thought. Modern political thought, like metaphysical thought, is nihilistic in character. According to Nietzsche, although they are very different from each other, their essence is rooted in democratic spirit. Therefore, Nietzsche's critique of democracy is important as he thinks that democracy is a political form of slave morality that denies life. Nietzsche also criticizes liberal democracy that is a special form of democracy and common in our time. Like democracy, liberal democracy has a nihilistic character. The notions of "individual", "right" and "freedom" that belong to liberalism are fictional and serve reactive powers that deny life. The importance of Nietzsche's thought is not limited his critiques. Nietzsche's thoughts are useful for a form of democracy that does not include the problems of liberal democracy. Nietzsche's conceptions of "power", "the view of perspectival truth" and "affirmative ethics" are important at this point. They can help to establish a non-nihilistic form of democracy.
