Afyonkarahisar'da ev kırlangıcı Delichon urbica (Linnaeus, 1758) yuvalarında avrupa kırlangıç tahtakurusu Oeciacus hirundinis (Jenyns, 1839)'in yayılışı

Amaç: Bu araştırma, Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi merkez kampüsü binalarında saçak altlarında bulunan ev kırlangıcı (Delichon urbica) yuvalarında yoğun olarak bulunan kırlangıç tahtakurularının enfestasyonundan sorumlu türün teşhisi ve yaygınlığını belirlemek için yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi merkez kampüsündeki binalarda bulunan D. urbica yuvaları muayene edildi. Tahtakuruları tür tespiti ve yaygınlık belirlenmesi için yuvalardan toplandı. Toplanan nimf ve erişkin tahtakuruları şeffaflandırıldı ve preparatlar hazırlandı, mikroskopta morfolojik özelliklerine göre teşhis edildi. Bulgular: Bazı ev kırlangıcı yuvalarında Avrupa kırlangıç tahtakurusu (Oeciacus hirundinis) belirlenmiş ve Türkiye'de ilk defa rapor edilmiştir. Muayene edilen toplam 82 tane yuvadan 21 tanesinin (%25.60) tahtakuruları ile enfeste olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ev kırlangıçlarının göç etmesi nedeniyle boş olan yuvalarda az sayıda eriş- kin tahtakurusu olduğu saptandı. Yuvalardan toplanan tahtakurusu sayısı en yüksek 75 ve en düşük 13 tane bulunmuştur. Yuvalardan toplanan erişkin dişi ve erkek tahtakurularının sayıları genellikle benzerdi (1:1-1.2:1). Tahtakurularının nimf dönemlerinin sayısının Haziran ve Temmuz aylarında, kırlangıçların birinci ve 2. kuluçka dö- nemlerinden sonrasında pik yaptığı görülmüştür. Kırlangıçların yuvaları terk edip göçe yöneldiği günlerde tahtakurularının yuvaların etrafında yüksek aktivite gösterdiği, binaların içlerine, duvar çatlak ve yarıklarına yöneldiği saptanmıştır

The distribution of the european swallow bug (Oeciacus hirundinis Jenyns, 1839) in the nests of house martin (Delichon urbica Linnaeus, 1758) in Afyonkarahisar.

Aim: This study was carried out to identify species responsible forinfestation of swallow bugs frequently observed in the nests of housemartin (Delichon urbica) which live mainly eaves of buildingsand to determine it's prevalance. For this purpose, the nests at thebuildings in central campus of Afyon Kocatepe University were examined.Materials and Methods: Bugs were collected from nests in order toidentify the species and it's prevalance. Collected nymphs and maturebugs were cleared and sections were prepared; and then theywere identified according to morphological characteristics under amicroscope.Results: The European swallow bug (Oeciacus hirundinis) has beenidentified in some house martin nests and was reported for the firsttime in Turkey. Of the 82 nests examined, 21 (25.60%) were infestedwith bugs. Lower number of mature bugs were observed when thenests were empty due to migration of house martins. The highestnumber of bugs collected from nests was 75 whereas the lowest was13. The number of female and male bugs were usually similar (1:1-1.2:1). Nymph stage of the bugs showed a peak in June and July afterthe first and second incubation periods of house martins. Whenhouse martins started to leave nests and tend to migrate, bugs showedhigh activity, moved towards interior sites of the buildings andcracks and crevices in the walls.Conclusions: This situation poses a risk for human as it was reportedthat these species can suck blood in human. Beside rash and allergicreactions, they have the potential to transfer viral and bacterialinfections.
