TURİZM FAALİYETLERİNE UZAK YERLEŞİMLERDE TURİZMİN YEREL HALKIN MUTLULUĞU ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİLERİ

Mutluluk, bireylerin hayattaki temel beklentilerinden birisi olmasının ötesinde, kamusalpolitikaların ve akademik çalışmaların temel konularından birisini oluşturmaktadır. Diğer pek çokiktisadi faaliyette olduğu gibi turizm sektörü de olumlu ve/veya olumsuz etkileri nedeniyle insanlarınmutluluğuna doğrudan etki edebilmektedir. Önemli turizm destinasyonlarına komşu olan Menteşe(Muğla) ilçesinde gerçekleştirilen bu çalışma yoğun turizm hareketliliğinin yaşanmadığı bölgelerdeturizm algısına yönelik yapılan çalışmaların azlığı nedeniyle literatüre katkı sağlayabilecekniteliktedir. Turizmin etkilerinin turizm faaliyetlerinden uzak yerleşimlerin sakinleri tarafından nasılalgılandığı ve mutluluk düzeylerini etkileyip etkilemediğinin incelendiği bu çalışma kapsamında çokdeğişkenli istatistiksel analiz yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Olumlu sosyo-kültürel etkiler ile olumluçevresel etkilerin turizm faaliyetlerinden uzak yerleşimlerde ikamet eden sakinlerin mutluluğuüzerinde etkin olduğuna işaret eden çalışma bulguları turizm planlamasının destinasyon ile çevresindeikamet eden yerel halkın görüşleri çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilmesi gerektiği sonucunu ortayakoymaktadır.

IMPACTS OF TOURISM ON HAPPINESS OF LOCAL RESIDENTS IN DISTANT SETTLEMENTS

Beyond being one of the core expectations of individuals, happiness is one of the basic issues of public policies and academic studies. Tourism sector can have direct effects on the happiness of people due to its positive and / or negative impacts. This paper held in Menteşe (Muğla), where is neighbor to mature tourism destinations, is of a size that can contribute to the literature due to the dearth of studies on tourism perception in the settlement distant from intensive tourism activities. In the scope of the study, whether the perceptions of tourism impacts affect the happiness of the residents who live away from tourism activities were examined through multivariate statistical analysis methods have been used. Findings indicate that positive socio-cultural and environmental impacts are effective on the happiness of residents and therefore underline that tourism planners should consider the local people not only in destinations but also in neighboring settlements.
