Examining the Differences Among Andergraduate Students' Epistemological Beliefs

Bu çalışmada, öğrenim gördükleri alanlara, cinsiyetlerine ve sınıf düzeylerine göre, üniversite öğrencilerinin epistemolojik inançları arasındaki farklılıklar incelenmiştir. Çalışmaya Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi, Beden Eğitimi ve İşletme alanlarında öğrenim gören toplam 248 öğrenci katılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçları, üniversite öğrencilerinin epistemolojik inançlarının alan-odaklı olmadığına, ancak alan-genel olduğuna ilişkin daha önceki araştırmaların sonuçlarını desteklemektedir. Bununla birlikte, öğrencilerin epistemolojik inançları arasında cinsiyet farklılıkları ortaya çıkmazken, sınıf düzeylerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık elde edilmiştir. Ancak, yaş değişkeni ortak değişken olarak analizlere dâhil edildiğinde sınıf düzeylerine göre elde edilen farklılık, yaşın etkisiyle ortaya çıktığını gösterir şekilde anlamlı bulunmamıştır.

Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Epistemolojik İnançları Arasındaki Farklılıkların İncelenmesi

This study examined the differences among epistemological beliefs of undergraduate students with respect to fields of study, gender and year of study. A total of 248 undergraduate students taking degrees in Fine Arts Teaching, Physical Education and Business Administration participated in the study. The results of the study supported the early results that undergraduate students' epistemological beliefs are not domain-specific, but domain-general. In addition, gender differences did not emerge among the students' epistemological beliefs, whereas significant grade level differences were found. However, when the age was entered as covariate into the analysis year of study differences disappeared, indicating that these differences arose from the effect of age.
