Öğretmenlerin ödeve ilişkin görüşleri : Ortamsal etmenlere dair nitel bir çalışma

Bu çalışma, ödevle ilgili konularda öğretmenlerin düşüncelerine nitel bir yaklaşımla bakmak ve bu düşüncelerin ortamsal etmenlerce nasıl oluşturulduğunu belirlemek için yürütülmüştür. Genelleme kaygısı taşımayan çalışma için veriler, alanyazından ve amaçsal örneklem yöntemiyle seçilen üç öğretmenle yapılan görüşmelerden elde edilmiştir. Seçilen öğretmenlerin istekli ve görüşlerini paylaşmaya hazırlıklı olması ölçüt olarak belirlendi ve ayrıca, kişisel ve ortamsal özellikler öğretmenlerin seçiminde belirleyici oldu. Görüşmelerden elde edilen veriler içerik çözümlemesine tabi tutuldu. Bulgular, öğretmen görüşlerinin farklılık gösterdiğine ve bu farklılıkların öğretmene ve ortama ait bazı ortamsal özelliklerce (öğretmenin deneyimi, öğrenci nitelikleri, sınıflardaki öğrenci sayıları, vb.), şekillendirildiğine işaret etmiştir. Öğretmenlerin beklentilerinin, gençken daha yüksek olduğu ve deneyimle beraber, öğrencilere daha az sorumluluk yükledikleri belirlenmiştir.

Teachers' opinions about homework : A qualitative study on contextual factors

This study aimed to have a qualitative investigation of teachers’ thoughts and identify how their thoughts are formed by contextual variables. Without any intention to generalize the conclusions, the data were gathered through the literature review and from the interviews held with three teachers selected through purposive sampling. Teacher willingness to participate and to share their thoughts was set as criteria in teacher selection. The interviews were content analyzed. The findings indicate that teachers’ thoughts differ, and these differences are formed by some contextual variables (teaching experience, students’ attributes, number of students in classes, etc.). When teachers are younger, their expectations are higher and as they get older, they place less responsibility on their students.
