Çocuk ve adolesanlarda gerilim tipi başağrılarının tanısındaki yenilikler

Başağrısı çok sayıda nedeni olan bir semptomdur. Primer başağrılarının altında yatan bir neden yoktur. Gerilim tipi başağrıları en sık rastlanan primer başağrılarındandır. Klinik ve temel bilime ilişkin araştırma çalışmalarında başağrılarının tanımlanmasında tek bir standart kriterin olmaması farklı çalışmalardan farklı sonuçların ortaya çıkmasına neden olmuştur. Uluslararası Başağrısı Derneği ilk kez 1988’de başağrılarının sınıflandırılma kriterlerini yapmıştır. Bugün için geçerliliğini koruyan, 2004 yılında 2. kez düzenlenerek yayınlanan 2004 kriterleridir. Bu makalenin amacı gerilim tipi başağrılarının tanısındaki yeniliklerin gözden geçirilmesidir. Erişkinlerde olduğu gibi çocuk ve adolesanlarda da okula devamsızlık ve ilaç aşırı kullanımına yol açabileceğinden çocuk hekimlerinin gerilim başağrılarının tanısı ve tipleri hakkında bilgi sahibi olmaları gerekmektedir.

Recent advances in the diagnosis of tension-type headaches in children and adolescents

Headache is a symptom which is caused by various reasons. Primary headaches are of unknown etiology. Tension-type headaches are one of the most common types of headaches. Lack of standard criteria in defining headaches in clinical and basic research led to varying results different studies. International Headache Society reported the first headachce classification in 1988 which was updated in 2004. The objective of this paper is to overview the recent advances in tension-type headaches. Similar to adults, headache may cause school absenteeism and drug abuse in both children and adolescents, thus pediatricians should be aware of the diagnoses and types of tension-type headaches.
