Kozmetovijilansta istenmeyen etkiler ile ürün arasındaki ilişki kronoloji, semptomatoloji, özel testlerin uygulanması, karar ağacı ve karar tablosun yer aldığı nedensellik değerlendirmesi yöntemi ile belirlenmektedir. Dünyada gelişmiş kozmetovijilans sistemleri arasında Amerika Birleşik Devletleri (ABD), Kanada, Japonya, Çin, Avrupa Birliği (AB), Türkiye, Güneydoğu Asya Uluslar Birliği (Association of Southeast Asian Nations: ASEAN) ve Güney Amerika Ortak Pazarı (Mercado Común del Sur: MERCUSOR) sistemleri yer almaktadır.

Innovation is quite clear in this product group; by using new components and carrier systems in these the products cause to develop effective cosmetics rather than basic cosmetic care. Cosmetics normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of spontaneous gathering of undesirable effects observed with the use of under reporting, evaluation and monitoring activities are expressed as a warning system which called as cosmetovigilance. Cosmetovigilance relationship between the product and undesirable effects; chronology, symptomatology, application of special tests, decision tree and decision tables are located in which the causality assessment method is determined.
