A Bibliometric Perspective of Records Management Discipline: An Assessment on Co-Word Analysis

Records management, which is an indispensable part of administrative processes, should not be perceived as a process directed only to records produced in institutions. As in any scientific discipline, records management needs to take a position in line with the needs of todays. In this research, records management publications have been examined through the keywords used in the scientific papers. The growth rate for the discipline is 15%. It has been seen that studies on records management under the conceptual structure map can be gathered under five main headings; "Information System","Information Management", "Interoperability", "Health Information Systems and User" "Legal Compliance and Institutional Requirements". On the other hand, it has been observed that records management is not limited to the documentation which is the only natural evidence of the natural functioning of institutions, especially the patient/health records in the hospital information systems. It is believed that this should be brought to the attention of field researchers to include data management in the context of records management. The conceptual structure of the map we are reaching is not only a documented process of records management, but also the compatibility of information systems, data management, users, laws and regulations, interoperability and standards, and so on. Many dimensions have been identified. The field is located on the axis of information science, library science and computer science.
