Rekabetin Türk Mevduat Bankalarının Performansına Etkisi

Ekonomideki atıl fonların yatırımlara kaynak oluşturması ve bu sayede ekonomik gelişimin sağlanması, finansal piyasalar ve kurumlar aracılığıyla mümkün olmaktadır. Bankalar, finansal sistem içinde büyük öneme sahiptir. Literatürde piyasa rekabetinin banka kârlılığına etkisinde süregelen tartışmalar, Türk mevduat bankaları kârlılığına piyasa rekabetinin etkisinin yön ve düzeyinin ortaya konulmasının karar vericiler ve politika yapıcılar açısından önemli olduğunu göstermektedir. Türk Mevduat Bankaları performansının piyasadaki rekabetten nasıl etkilendiğinin ortaya konulması bu çalışmada amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın verileri, 25 mevduat bankasının 2002-2018 dönemlerini içeren yıllık finansal bilgileri ile oluşturulan dengeli panel veriden meydana getirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, piyasa rekabetinin Türk Mevduat Bankalarının aktif kârlılığını ve öz sermaye kârlılığını artırdığı bulgusu elde edilmiştir. Rekabetin performansa etkisi Türk Mevduat Bankalarında neo-klasik görüşün öngörüsünü destekleyici yöndedir.

The Effect of Competition on the Performance of Turkish Deposit Banks

To funded the investment by the idle funds in the economy and to provide the economic development in this way are possible through the financial markets and institutions. Banks have a big precaution in the financial system. Ongoing debate on the effect of market competition on bank profitability in the literature suggests that the direction and level of the effect of market competition on the profitability of Turkish Deposit Banks is important for decision makers and policy makers. It is aimed in this study to show how the performance of Turkish Deposit Banks is affected by the competition in the market. The data of the study have been obtained to the stable panel created with annual financial information covering the years 2002-2018 of 25 deposit banks. As a result of the study, it has been found that market competition increased return on asset and return on equity of Turkish Deposit Banks. The impact of the competition on performance is in support of the foresight of the neo-classical sight for Turkish Deposit Banks.
