Morphological Phylogenetic Analysis of the Taxa Belonging to the Genus Carlina L. (Asteraceae, Cardueae) in Turkey

In this study; the genus Carlina L., a member of the tribe Cardueae subtribe Carlininae (Asteraceae), was analyzed with respect to morphological characters. Relationships among the 9 taxa of the genus Carlina. distributed in Turkey were analyzed using 28 morphological characters. For this analysis, Cardopatium corymbosum, Atractylis cancellata, Carthamus lanatus, and Carthamus dentatus taxa were chosen as outgroups. Analysis of the data set utilising maximum parsimony criterion with Branch-and–Bound algorithm yielded in two equally most parsimonious trees with 106 steps. These trees with different topologies had 4 clads. Some branches received Bootstrap supports while others did not. As a result of this analysis, 2nd clade is supported by the 69% Bootstrap value
