Yaşlıların Bakımında Erkek Bakıcılar: Kocalar, Oğullar

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı yaşlı bakımında erkek bakıcıların bakım sürecindeki deneyimlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır.Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma nitel kesitsel tipte olup, Mayıs 2017- Mayıs 2019 tarihleri arasında yaşlı bakımı veren aile üyesierkeklerle yapılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında yaşları 65 ile 83 arasında değişen yedi aile üyesi erkek bakıcı ile görüşülmüştür.Katılımcılarla yapılan yüz yüze görüşmelerde yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmış ve elde edilen veriler tematikanaliz yoluyla analiz edilmiştir.Bulgular: Araştırmada erkek bakıcıların kendilerini bir bakıcı olarak tanımlamak yerine bakım verdikleri kişinin oğlu veya eşiolarak tanımlamayı tercih ettikleri ve bakıma bir görev olarak yaklaştıkları görülmüştür. Bakıcı erkekler bakım vermeninkarmaşık görevlerini kendileri için zorlayıcı bulsa da yapılan görevleri çok az bir yardımla yerine getirmeye çalıştıklarıbulgularına ulaşılmıştır.Sonuç: Araştırmada oğulların bakımı kardeşler arasında paylaştığı, kocaların ise kendi çocuklarından destek aldığı; bakımsürecinde erkeklerin en çok bakım alıcılarının beden temizliği ve gıda yönetimi gibi görevlerde zorlandığı ortaya çıkmıştır.

Male Caregivers of Older Individuals: Husbands, Sons

Objective: The aim of this study is to reveal the experiences of male caregivers in the care process in elderly care.Materials and Methods: The research was cross-sectional and qualitative and was conducted between May 2017 and May2019 with male family members who care for the elderly. Within the scope of the research, seven male caregivers aged between65 and 83 were interviewed. Face-to-face interviews were conducted using a semi-structured interview form and the dataobtained were analyzed through thematic analysis.Results: It was presented in the research those male caregivers give preference to be defined as the son or spouse of the personthey care for instead of a caregiver and that they view the caregiving as a duty. Although male caregivers find the complex tasksof caregiving challenging for themselves, it was detected that they try to fulfill their duties with little help.Conclusion: Sons shared the care among siblings, while husbands received support from their own children; In the care process,it has been revealed that men have the most difficulty in tasks such as body cleaning and food management of care recipients.
