Investigation of the effects of stress on some liver enzymes (ast, alt, alp) in rats

In this study, the effects of stress on liver enzymes (AST, ALT and ALP levels) were investigated in rats. In thestudy, 12 adult Sprague Dawley male rats with approximately 200-250 g in weight were divided into two groups, the first ascontrol (n=6) and the second as experimental group (n=6). Control group was applied 1.0 ml of isotonic, while 4 mg/kg(1ml=50 IU) ACTH (Synacthen Depot) was applied intraperitoneally (ip) to the experimental group. After 3 h, blood sampleswere collected from both groups under ketamine anaesthesia, using appropriate techniques. The control group serum AST,ALT, ALP values was found as 43±8, 25±5, and 200±34; whereas in the experimental group these values was found, as129±22, 172±15, 452±49 (U/I), respectively. The stress created by the application of ACTH in experimental group, wasstatistically significant (P
