Seleukidische und attalidische Kolonisationstätigkeit im oberen Kaikostal: Ein Vorbericht

Bugün büyük oranda Kırkağaç Ovasının kapladığı Yukarı Kaikos (Bakırçay) vadisi başlıca yol güzergahlarının kesiştiği konumuyla ve verimli topraklarıyla Hellenistik dönemde bölgedeki egemen güçler içinstratejik ve ekonomik olarak oldukça önemliydi. Seleukoslar için bölgeye hakim olmak buradan geçen yolları denetlemek kadar Kaikos vadisinin aşağısında bulunan Pergamonun üzerinde de gözetim sağlamakanlamına geliyordu. Attaloslar için ise bölge, başkentleri Pergamona doğunda gelebilecek bir tehlikeninönlenmesi açısından hayati öneme sahipti. Bu nedenle her iki krallık da kurdukları askeri koloniler aracılığıyla Yukarı Kaikos vadisini denetlemeyi amaçlamışlardır. Bu makalede eldeki antik edebi, epigrafik venümismatik veriler ile modern araştırmalar doğrultusunda bölgedeki yerleşmelerin kurucuları ve fonksiyonları ele alınmaktadır.
