Menopoz ve andropoz: Benzerlikler ve farklılıklar

Menopoz, tanım olarak herkesçe kabul gören bir anlama sahip olsa da andropoz için aynı durum söz konusu değildir. Menopoz ile menstruel kanama ve fertilite son bulmaktadır. Ancak erkek fertilitesi, yaşa bağlı olarak azalsa da bir sona ermeden söz edilemediği için bazı kesimlerce andropoz kelimesi yanlış bir kullanım olarak görülmektedir. İki dönem de orta yaşlardan itibaren kadın ve erkek yaşamına dâhil olmakla birlikte bazı benzerliklere ve farklılıklara sahiptir. Pek çok toplumda menopoz ve andropoz kelimesi birbirinin yerine kullanılmakta hatta bazı kesimlerce andropoz erkek menopozu olarak anılmaktadır. Bu makalede menopoz ve andropozun özellikleri, semptomları, benzer ve farklı yönlerinden söz edilmektedir.

Menopause and andropause: Similarities and differences

Although menopause has a generally accepted meaning by definition, this is not the case for andropause. With menopause, menstrual bleeding and fertility ends. However, although male fertility decreases due to age, there is no mention of an ending, andropause is seen by some as an incorrect use of the word. Both periods have been included in the life of men and women from middle ages, but have some similarities and differences. In many societies, the word menopause and andropause are used interchangeably. Even, in some, andropause is referred to as male menopause. In this article, features, symptoms, similar and different aspects of menopause and andropause are discussed.
