YENİ KORONAVİRÜS (COVID-19) SALGINI: TUTUMLAR, ALGILAR VE SİYASİ LİDER STİLİ TERCİHİ

Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye örnekleminde yeni koronavirüse (COVID-19) ilişkin çeşitli tutum ve algıların yanında, kimliklenme, kaygı ve algılanan sosyal güvenin siyasi lider tercihleri üzerindeki yordayıcılığını incelemektir. Bu amaçla, 283 kişiden oluşan bir örneklem (181 kadın, 102 erkek, Ort.yaş = 33.71, S = 11.05) ile nicel bir araştırma yürütülmüştür. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, katılımcıların önemli bir çoğunluğunun şu anda bir seçim yapılsa görev odaklı liderlik stilini, karizmatik ve ilişki odaklı liderlik stillerine göre daha fazla tercih edeceğini göstermiştir. Ayrıca her bir liderlik stili için araştırma değişkenlerinin yordayıcılığını test etmek üzere geriye doğru eleme yöntemi kullanılarak regresyon analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular; katılımcıların makro kontrol algılarının olumlu ve kendine güven algılarının karizmatik lider stilini olumsuz; bulaşıcılık algısı ile durumluk kaygının görev odaklı liderlik stilini olumlu ve salgınla ilgili komplo ve inanç algılarının ilişki odaklı liderlik stilini olumlu ve anlamlı olarak yordadığını göstermiştir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bilgiler ilgili alanyazın ışığında kriz durumlarında lider tercihinin dinamiklerini anlamaya yönelik çıkarımlar çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır.

NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) OUTBREAK: ATTITUDES, PERCEPTIONS, AND PREFERENCES OF POLITICAL LEADERSHIP STYLE

This study aimed to investigate the predictor roles of identity, anxiety, and perceived social trust on preferences for political leaders, as well as various attitudes, and opinions about coronavirus in a Turkish sample in the context of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic crisis. For this purpose, a quantitative study with a sample of 283 participants (181 women, 102 men, M.age = 33.71, SD = 11.05). The findings revealed that a majority of the participants preferred task-oriented leadership style more than the charismatic and relationship-oriented leadership styles if there were an election. Regression analyses were further conducted using the backward elimination method to test the predictability of the research variables for each leadership style. The results revealed that participants’ sense of macro-control positively and self-confidence negatively predicted charismatic leadership style; perceived contagiousness and state anxiety positively predicted task-oriented leadership style; perception of conspiracy and beliefs related to the pandemic positively predicted relationship-oriented leadership style. The research findings were discussed in line with the relevant literature with implications for understanding the dynamics of leadership preferences during crisis.
