Tefsir Kitaplarında Tâif

Taif, Arap yarımadasında bulunan tarihi kadim bir şehirdir. Hicaz bölgesinde yer alan üç önemli şehirden biridir. Taif, Hicâz’ın Mekke ve Medine’den sonra önde gelen üçüncü şehridir. Bölge için eski çağlardan beri tarım ve ticaret şehri olarak kabul edilmektedir. Çevresinde yer alan kentlere göre farklı bir iklime sahiptir. Bu özelliği sebebiyle bol su kaynakları, doğal güzellikleri ve meyve sebze çeşitliliğiyle diğer şehirlerden ayrılmaktadır. Bu yönüyle Mekkeliler için geçmişten günümüze sayfiye şehri olarak kullanılmaktadır. Taif’in sahip olduğu ve kendisini diğer şehirlerden farklı kılan özellikleri hakkında kaynaklarda da ilk dönemden beri rivayet edilen farklı görüşler bulunmaktadır. Bazıları iklim özelliklerinden; bazıları da şehre verilen isimden hareketle mitolojik unsurlar barından açıklamalarda bulunmuşlardır. Bu makalede Taif şehrine bu ismin verilmesi, şehrin özellikleri, şehre verilen önem yalnızca Tefsir kitaplarında verilen bilgiler çerçevesinde incelenecektir. Bu çerçevede önce Kur’ân’da işaret edilen âyetlere temas edilecektir. Sonrasında âyetlerin tefsirinde verilen bilgiler aktarılacaktır.

Tāʾif in Tafsir Books

Tāʾif is an ancient historical city located on the Arabian peninsula. It is one of the three important cities located in the Hijaz. In other words, Tāʾif is the third leading city of the Hijaz after Mecca and Medina. Tāʾif has been regarded as an agricultural and commercial city for the region since ancient times. It has a different climate compared to the cities around it. Due to this feature, it is distinguished from other cities with its abundant water resources, natural beauties and variety of fruits and vegetables. In this respect, it has been used as a summer resort city for the Meccans from past to present. There are different opinions about Tāʾif’s features that make it different from other cities, which have been narrated since the first period. Some of them are based on the name given to the city, mythological elements have made explanations. In this article, the name given to the city of Tāʾif, the characteristics of the city, the importance given to the city will be examined only within the framework of the information given in the Tafsīr books. In this context, firstly, the verses pointed out in the Qur’an will be touched upon. Afterwards, the information given in the interpretation of the verses will be conveyed.
