A Scale Development Study of Prospective Teachers’ Views of Nuclear Power Plants

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable scale determining prospective teachers’ views of nuclear power plants. In the development of the draft scale, experts initially looked over draft items drawn from related literature. A five-point Likert scale was administered to a total of 178 prospective biology teachers from Kazim Karabekir Education Faculty at Ataturk University. Then, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were deployed to yield final version of the scale. Finally, the scale had 2 factors with 48 items, whose factor loadings ranged from 0.776 to 0.400. Besides, Coefficient Alpha reliability for Factor 1 was 0.932; the reliability for Factor 2 was 0.920 and the reliability of overall of scale was 0.943.
