Sitoteknolog: Dünyadaki Durumu ve Türkiye’deki Gereksinim

Günümüzde patoloji laboratuvar teknisyenleri ön lisans programlarından yetişmektedir. Ancak Avrupa Birliği’ne uyum çabası, yeni moleküler ve genetik yöntemler ve kanser vakalarındaki artış gibi etkenlerden dolayı artık ön lisans mezunu teknik personelin bilgi ve beceri düzeyi yetersiz kalmaktadır. Yurtdışında eksikliği onlarca yıl öncesinde fark edilerek daha kapsamlı bir eğitimle yetiştirilmelerine başlanan ve ülkemiz için henüz yeni sayılan bu personelin yurtdışındaki tanımı sitoteknolog olarak geçmektedir. Bu nedenle bu makalede öncelikle sitoteknolog tanımı yapıldıktan sonra dünyadaki durum ve ülkemizde bu kadroya neden ihtiyaç duyulduğu ortaya konmaya çalışılacaktır. Bu şekilde sitoteknoloji lisans programlarının açılabilmesi adına bir farkındalık oluşturulması planlanmaktadır

Cytotechnologist: Status In The World, The Need In Turkey

Pathology laboratory technicians graduate from two-year programs. However, these qualifications for pathology laboratory technicians are insufficient when considering European Union standards, the increasing complexity of new methodologies and the increasied frequency of cancer cases. The need for technicians known as cytotecnologist, was recognized several years ago in developed countries and new education programmes were created. The first aim of this study is to define the role of the“cytotechnologist” and then to investigate its status in the world and Turkey. Thus the second aim is to create an awareness for opening new bachelor of science programmes in cythotechnology
