Cerrahi Yoğun Bakım Hemşirelerinin Hastaların Göz Bakımı Konusundaki Bilgi ve Uygulamaları

Amaç: Araştırmanın amacı cerrahi yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin hastaların göz bakımı konusundaki bilgi ve uygulamalarını belirlemektir.Hastalar ve yöntem: Tanımlayıcı olarak yapılan araştırma bir kamu hastanesinin cerrahi YBÜ’lerinde Ağustos-Aralık 2012 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini; bir kamu hastanesinin cerrahi yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan 105 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Örneklem seçiminde herhangi bir örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmadan araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 80 hemşire araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında; araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan anket formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde tanımlayıcı istatistik kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin %70’inin göz bakımı eğitimi aldığı, %45’inin göz bakımını 8 saatte 1 defa uyguladığı, %70’inin çalıştıkları YB ünitesinde göz bakımı ile ilgili rutin uygulama bulunduğunu, %92.5’inin göz bakımı uygulama şekline iç kantüsten dış kantüse doğru yaptığını belirttiği, %71.2’sinin gözü steril spançla kapattığı, %50’sinin göz kurumasını önlemeye yönelik göz yaşı damlası kullandığı, %60’ının düzenli göz bakımı uyguladığı, %82.4’ünün her zaman kırpma refleksi olmayan hastaların gözlerini korumaya aldığı, %90’ının düzenli olarak enfeksiyon belirtilerini değerlendirdiği, %72.4’ünün her zaman düzenli hastanın gözünde tespit ettiği sorunu kaydettiği, %55’inin ise göz kırpma sayısını değerlendirmediği belirlenmiştir.Sonuç: Hemşirelerin göz bakımı farkındalıklarının yüksek olduğu ancak bilgi eksikliklerine bağlı uygulama hataları olduğu tespit edilmiştir

KNOWLEDGE AND CURRENT PRACTICES OF SURGICAL INTENSIVE CARE NURSES IN EYE CARE

Purpose: This study aims to determine the knowledge level and practices of surgical intensive care nurses regarding the eye care of patients. Patients and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in the surgical intensive care units ICU of a university hospital between August and December 2012. The study population consisted of 105 nurses who worked in the surgical intensive care units of this hospital. All of the study population was included in the study sample without any sample selection. The research was completed with 80 nurses, reaching 76.19% of the population. A questionnaire, developed by the researcher was used for data collection, and descriptive statistics were used for the analysis of the data. Results: It was determined that 70% of the nurses surveyed had training on eye care, 45% were applying eye care once every 8 hours, 70% had routine practice in eye care in their ICU, 92.5% were applying eye care starting from inner canthus to exterior canthus, 71.2% were closing eyes with a sterile sponge, 50% were using tear drops to prevent dry eye, 60% were applying regular eye care, 55% were not observing the blink count, 82.4% were protecting the eyes of patients who had no blink reflex all the time, 90% were evaluating the signs of infection regularly, and 72.4% were recording the problem identified in the eyes of a patient. Conclusion: The awareness of eye care with nurses was found to be high, but some incorrect practice was also present due to a lack of knowledge
