PROFILING ASTHMA-CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES AND AIR QUALITY EVALUATION

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the importance of socio-demographic risk factors such as age, gender, residence, insurance status and season that are significant for asthma-cardiovascular disease diagnoses. Material and Methods: In this study, we analyzed 47981 different patients’ data who had been diagnosed by clinics in both the cardiology and respiratory departments of a public hospital, in the province of Konya, between the years of 2008 – 2010 and asthma – cardiovascular diseases’ diagnoses were profiled by logistic regression. Seasonal patterns and odds ratios were considered together with two facts: Turkish Statistical Institute Air Quality Reports, that showing short term toxicity of particular materials PM10 in the air, and first step early warning threshold values of Konya province, were observed to be over the threshold between the observed dates. Cardiovascular diseases were second by 17,23 % as per diagnosis in Konya province as reported by the Ministry of Health. Results: The results demonstrated that the parameters of logistic models of asthma and cardiovascular diseases were statistically significant p
