ETHNOLIGUISTIC FEATURES OF NUMBERS “FOUR” AND “FIVE” IN FIXED EXPRESSIONS AND IDIOMS IN KAZAKH AND ENGLISH

The notion of numbers dates back to ancient times. It was enlarged and generalized throughout the centuries. One can find numerals mostly in fixed expressions. The actual materials were collected from phraselogical dictionaries of Kazakh and English languages. There are different numerals used in phraseologies and proverbs (two, four, five, six, and eight, fifty and so on). The author defines a series of numbers which are considered to be sacred ones according some concept beliefs. The article also deals with etymological and ethno linguistic peculiarities of sacred numbers in the Kazakh and English languages, reflecting the spiritual life, traditions and customs. The author examines the sacred numbers “four” and “five” in fixed expressions of compared languages.
