Effects Of Vitamin D Use On Asthma Control
Objective: Interest in the relationship between asthma and vitamin D has been increasing in recent years. Studies have shown that there is a relationship between vitamin D deficiency and asthma. Interest in research on vitamin D supplementation in asthmatic patients has been increasing in recent years. In this study, the effect of vitamin D supplementation on asthma was investigated in addition to the treatment they were receiving asthmatic patients.Material and Methods: Forty patients were included in the study. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. In the first group, the patient was given steroids and the other group was inhaled steroids and D vitamins. The effects of these two treatments were compared with clinical and laboratory methods. Results: There was no difference in FEV1 change, ACQ, ACT, and exacerbation numbers between before and after treatment between the two groups. Compared with the placebo group, salbutamol response was higher after treatment with vitamin D (p = 0.042).Conclusion: As a result of our study, the use of vitamin D; We think that the response to treatment in asthma affects the positive direction. In patients with high blood vitamin D levels, salbutamol response is higher than in those with low blood vitamin D levels. These results suggest that the addition of vitamin D in addition to asthma therapy may provide positive contributions to the success of treatment. However, more extensive studies are needed in this regard.
