The Effects Of Sound Stress On Potassium, Magnesium And Calcium Uptake Of Some Indoor Ornemantal Plants

Sound stresses included in abiotic stress factors created by the sound areas in which sound waves form affect growth and development of plants as an alternative mechanic stress. Especially indoor plants are within the plants groups exposed to constant sound stress. In this work, the effects of sound stress on some nutrient elements (K, Mg and Ca) uptake of fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) and zamia (Sansevieria trifasciata) plants were investigated. For that purpose, fern and zamia plants were exposed to 3 different frequency values as 600 HZ sound wave in the first week, 1240 HZ in the second week and 1600 Hz sound waves in the third week at 90 dB adjusted as constantly. At the end of applications practiced each week, nutritional element analysis were performed in leaf samples. As result, along with the increase at frequency value at a constant sound intensity level, the zamia plants increased their nutritional element uptake when they were exposed to stress. It was determined that K uptake increased at 1600 Hz; and Mg, Ca uptake increased at 1240 HZ while Mg and Ca contents were determined as the highest at 1240 HZ sound frequency and K contents as the highest at 600 HZ sound frequency for fern plants.
