Küresel kriz sonrası uluslararası para birimi olarak euro ve geleceği

Avrupa Birliği uzun uğraşlar sonucunda ekonomik bütünleşmeşekillerinden biri olan ekonomikve parasal birliği 1999 yılında gerçekleştirmiş ve bazı Avrupa Birliği üyeleri 2002 yılından itibarenkendi para birimleri yerine ortak para birimi olan Euroyu kullanmaya başlamışlardır. Bugünitibariyle 18 ülkenin oluşturduğu ortak para alanına Euro Alanı denmektedir. Eu ronun yürürlüğegirmesinden itibaren Euronun geleceğine ilişkin soru işaretleri hep var olmuştur. Bu süreçteEuronun uluslararası bir para birimi olup olamayacağı, doların hâkimiyetini kırıp kıramayacağıgündeme gelmiştir. Küresel krizin başlamasından ve özellikle bu krizin Avrupa Borç Krizi halinegelmesinden sonra, Euronun uluslararası para birimi niteliği ve geleceği daha fazla sorgulanır halegelmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı; uluslararası para birimlerinin taşıması gereken nitelikleri ortayakoyarak, Euronun küresel kriz sonrasında uluslararası para birimi olma niteliğini sorgulamak,Euronun geleceğine yönelik olarak olasılıkları ortaya koymaktır. Ortaya konulan olasılıklar arasındavar olma olasılığının diğer olasılıklara göre daha güçlü bir olasılık olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The Euro and its future as an international currency in the post - crisis period

Today, the common monetary zone that consists of 18 countries is called the Euro Zone. Thecountries included in this zone use the Euro as a common currency unit instead of their nationalcurrencies. There have always been question marks about the future of the Euro since the Euro wasput into effect. In the process, whether the euro could become an international currency and whether itcould end the dollar s supremacy have been brought to the agenda. After the global crisis started and especially after the crisis turned into the European Debt Crisis the eligibility of the Euro to becomean international currency and its future started to be questioned even more. The purpose of this studyis to examine whether the Euro has the qualities as an international currency unit and to presentposs ibilities about the future of the Euro by explaining the characteristics that internationalcurrencies must have. It was observed that the Euro maintains the properties of being an internationalcurrency unit and it has a strong likelihood to continue to exist compared to other possibilitiespresented so far.
