Radiologic Examination And Surgical Treatment of Huge Paradental Cyst Of Mandibular Third Molar Tooth Case Report

Paradental cyst is one of the cysts which develop from the epithelial residues remaining from the embriyologic period on the cervical and distal surfaces of the teeth. In this case report, a thirty-year-old female patient was referred from an external center to our faculty owing to a large radiolucent lesion locating from the distal of the mandibular third molar tooth to the ramus of the mandible. After the clinical and radiological examination, the patient was referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a pre-diagnosis of paradentalcyst. The tooth associated with the lesion was extracted. Furthermore since the cyst has a large volume, decompression treatment was started. It should be kept in mind that paradental cysts may develop from untreated pericoronal infected teeth and these cysts may cause osteomyelitis. Therefore the diagnosis and the treatment should be considered carefully.
