DETERMINATION OF CRITICAL SUPPLIER SELECTION CRITERIA FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OUTSOURCING: A QUALITATIVE RESEARCH IN THE AVIATION INDUSTRY

This study aims to determine the critical selection criteria used in the selection of IT outsourcing suppliers. Research has focused on the aviation sector, one of the sectors where IT outsourcing is intense. A qualitative research has been carried out on aviation companies operating in Turkey. As a result of the research, supplier selection criteria are classified under three themes: IT product/service, supplier and relationship-specific characteristics. The study show that not only quantitative selection criteria but also more intangible and relational criteria such as flexibility, trust, cultural fit play a decisive role when the IT supplier is decided in the aviation companies
