The absorption capacity in the european union

Following the completion of the Eastern enlargement, much of the debate devoted to the EU's absorption capacity. In the current economic climate and the challenges facing the EU, a debate is looming on the horizon about credibility that should remains at the core of the enlargement policy. In this sense, a question arises as to whether the enlargement process will continue to remain credible for the old EU. From the perspective of later 2011, it is another question how far the aspirant countries can be well prepared through rigorous conditionality. The aim of this paper is to underline the growing importance of the EU's absorption capacity and describes its renaissance in the enlargement debate.
