Root Knot (Meloidogyne spp.) and Cyst Nematodes (Heterodera and Globodera spp.) Cancer Generation Mechanisms in Plants

Root-knot (Meloidogyne spp.) and cyst (Heterodera and Globodera spp.) are the most economically important plant parasitic nematode species. These cosmopolitan pests are obligate, sedentary endoparasites and specialized mechanisms in host parasitism. They cause plant cancer that modifications of the host cell for feeding and it is characterized multicellular, more organellar structure with dense cytoplasm. A number of different secretory which produced nematode glands are secreted into the host through the stylet, amphid and phasmid to feeding site formation. As a result of cancer the roots, the circulation of water and nutrients in the plant is disturbed and plant growth is negatively affected. In this review, nematode parasitism and cancer occurrences were tried to be explained.
