Justification and Reliability

"Gerekçelendirilmiş inanç nedir? " adlı yazısında Alvin I Goldman, bir inancın, ancak ve ancak karşıt bir güvenilir bilişsel süreç yokluğunda, güvenilir bir inanç oluşturma sürecinde üretilmişse gerekçelendirildiğini tartışmaktadır.Yani, bir inanç ancak ve ancak standart bir algı süreci, hatırlama ve içe bakış gibi güvenilir bir bilişsel sürecin ürünü ise gerekçelendirilmiş sayılır. Bu makalede bir inanç oluşturma sürecinin güvenilirliğini bir inancı gerekçelendirilmiş saymak için ne gerekli ne de yeterli bir koşul olduğunu tartışmaktayım. Gerekçelendirme için olmazsa olmaz koşul, bir inanç- oluşturma sürecinin değil, bir inancının doğruluğunun kontrol edildiği bir sürecin güvenilirliği ve kanıtıdır.

Gerekçelendirme ve Güvenilirçilik

In "What Is Justified Belief?" Alvin I. Goldman argues that a belief is justified if and only if it is produced by a reliable belief-forming process in the absence of an undermining reliable cognitive process. That is, a belief is justified if and only if it is an outcome of a reliable cognitive process such as a standard perceptual process, remembering, and introspection, and there is no undermining reliable cognitive process. In this article, I argue that the reliability of a belief-forming process is neither a necessary nor a sufficient condition for justification of a belief. What is crucial for justification is the reliability of a belief-checking process and evidence rather than the reliability of a belief-forming process.
