Finite element analysis of doweled furniture corner joints

The finite element method has become a common practice for analysis of problems that cannot be solved or solution is difficult in conventional methods. In this study, a brief information is given about the method and doweled furniture corner joints are modeled using this method. The models were analyzed using ANSYS™ commercial software. FEM is a important tool for furniture designers and manufacturers. However, it should be remembered that wood is not homogenous and the behavior of furniture joints is not linear.
