Primary pleural leiomyosarcoma presenting as multiple pleural masses

Bu makalede, üç plevral kitle ile kendini gösteren primerplevral leiomyosarkomlu 74 yaşında bir kadın hastasunuldu. İki diyafragmatik kitle torakoskopi ile tamameneksize edildi. Pozitron emisyon tomografisinde primerköken alanın apikal kitle olduğu görüldü; bu kitle aksillertorakotomi ile tamamen eksize edildi. Cerrahi sınırlarnegatif olduğundan, hastaya ameliyat sonrası kemo- veyaradyoterapi verilmedi ve hasta 17 aylık takip sonucundahastalıksız durumdadır. Cerrahi rezeksiyon leiomyosarkomtedavisinin temelini oluşturur. Metastatik olmayanolgularda veya cerrahi sınırlar negatif olduğunda, ameliyatsonrası kemo- veya radyoterapi gerekli olmayabilir.Bilgimiz dahilinde, literatürde multipl plevral kitlelerşeklinde kendini gösteren primer plevral leiomyosarkomolgusu bildirilmemiştir.

In this article, we report a 74-year-old female patientwith primary pleural leiomyosarcoma presenting withthree pleural masses. Two diaphragmatic masses werecompletely excised via thoracoscopy. A positron emissiontomography showed the apical mass as the primary siteof origin, which was completely excised via axillarythoracotomy. As surgical margins were negative, patientwas not given chemo- or radiotherapy, and is disease- free after 17 months of follow-up. Surgical resectionis the mainstay of treatment of leiomyosarcoma. Innonmetastatic cases or when the surgical margins arenegative, postoperative chemo- or radiotherapy maynot be required. To our knowledge, there is no case ofprimary pleural leiomyosarcoma presenting with multiplepleural masses reported in the literature.
