Bu çalışmada Gölbaşı ilçesinde yaşayan kişilerde su kullanım alışkanlıkları ve 2003 yılı yaz ayları boyunca (Haziran, Temmuz, Ağustos) diyare sıklığını saptamak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma Eylül 2003’te araştırma esnasında evde bulunan 18 yaş ya da üzeri bir kişiye yüz yüze görüşme tekniği ile anket uygulanarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. 2100 hanenin % 36,7’sinde 2003 yazı içerisinde diyare görülmüştür. Araştırma bölgesinde yaşayan kişilerin son 3 ayda en az bir kez diyare olma sıklığı % 12,2’dir. Diyare epizod hızı % 21,0’dır. İçme ve kullanma suyu ayırımı yapma durumu, son üç ayda su kesintisi olma durumu, şebeke suyunu arıtarak kullanma, su tüketim miktarı ve su faturası tutarı, diyareyi etkileyen faktörler olarak ele alınmıştır. Diyare varlığını etkileyen faktörler için geliştirilen lojistik regresyon modeli sonucuna göre, su kesintisi varlığının modele etkisi istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulunmuştur.
