Orta Sınıf Olma Komedisi: Little Britain ve Vicky

Toplumsal hareketlilikler sadece toplumdan değil, toplumsal anlatı ve öykülemelerden de takip edilebilir. Tabakalar ya da sınıflar arası hareketlilik, tarih boyunca ezen ve ezilen kimliklerinin farklı maskelerle icrasını sağlamıştır. Dikey hareketlenmelerdeki yürütücülerin en büyüklerinden birisi ekonomik tabakalardır. İşçiler ve yöneticiler arasına sonradan yerleşen bir tabaka olan ‘orta sınıf’; kimilerine göre kâra ve sermayeye zarar vermek istemeyen ve onlara karşı bir piyango çekilişine katılır gibi sürekli arzu üretmesi beklenen ve ancak hissi açlıkları kimi ırkçılık ya da cinsiyetçilik türleriyle bastırabilen tüketim tabanlı bir tabakadır. Bu biçimiyle büyük bir güç ve ‘onaylayıcı’ olarak, bazı ekonomistleri büyülemiştir. Orta sınıfın hayatı, temsil açısından yazar ve senaristlerin de ilgisini çekmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Little Britain TV şovundan hareketle, İngiliz işçi sınıfının temsilindeki dönüşüm, diziden kimi sahnelerin ve karakterlerin analiziyle ve medya yansımalarıyla örneklendirilerek incelenecektir. Öncesindeyse işçiliğin hangi toplumsal aşamalardan geçtiği ve komedilerdeki temsili tartışılacaktır

The Comedy of Being Middle Class: Little Britain and Vicky

Social movements can be traced not only to society, but also to social stories and narratives. Mobility between social stratas or social classes in the different masks of oppressed identities have been a scene all through history. One of the greatest actors in vertical mobilization, obviously, is the economic strata. The middle class, a layer that later settled between workers and managers, is a consumption-based class which does not want to harm the profit and the capital. It is continually anticipated to desire them as a lottery and to repress its feelings of hunger, racism or sexism. In this form, as a great power and approver, some economists have fascinated by the idea of the middle class. In terms of representation, screenwriters are also interested in the lives of middle-class people. In this work, the transformation of the representation of the British working class will be examined by analyzing some of the scenes and characters in the Little Britain TV show and their media reflections. And also, it will be argued as to which social stages of labor passed and how it was represented.
