Türkiye'de Emek Piyasasının Çevrimsel Hareketinin Cinsiyet Bazında AnaliziBu çalışmada, Türkiye'de bazı temel emek piyasası değişkenlerinin konjonktürel yapısı cinsiyet bazında istatistiksel olarak incelenmektir. Toplulaştırılmış göstergeler, iktisadi anlamda önem arz eden ve cinsiyet bazında alt gruplarda gözlenmesi muhtemel heterojen yapıyı gizleyebilmektedir. Bu çalışmada yapılan analizlerde, konjonktürel dalgalanmalar esnasında istihdamın kadın ve erkeklerde tamamen zıt yönde hareket ettiği ve işgücüne katılımın cinsiyet bazında önemli nitelik ve niceliksel farklılıklar gösterdiği gözlenmiştir. Ekonomik daralma dönemlerinde erkek istihdamı azalırken hem kadınların iş gücüne katılımının hem de kadın istihdamının artmasının, daralma dönemlerinde işgücü piyasalarındaki kötüleşmeyi ve bu dönemlerin ekonomik ve sosyal maliyetlerini sınırlayan muhtemel etkenler arasında olduğu düşünülmektedir. İşsizlikte ise cinsiyet bazında niceliksel farklar gözlenmekle beraber, niteliksel olarak iki grup birbirine benzemektedir.

Analyzing the Cyclical Properties of Turkish Labor Market by GenderThis study, using statistical techniques, analyzes the cyclical behavior of the some key labor market variables with respect to gender decomposition. Aggregate indicators may conceal the possible heterogeneity across genders that may have economic importance. Analysis shows that, over the cycle, male and female employment move in opposite directions, and there are qualitative and quantitative differences across genders in their labor force participation. The finding that both female participation and employment increases during economic downturns, while male employment decreases, implies that response of female labor market variables to cycle may mitigate negative impact of downturns on labor markets as well as the economic and social costs associated with these downturns. Even though there are quantitative differences on responses of male and female unemployment to the business cycle, these two variables respond to cycles in the same qualitative way.
