THE ROLE OF NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS (NGO’S) IN THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL-VALUE AWARENESS DEVELOPMENT IN TURKEY

Nowadays modernized countries take steps to bring the public’s role in the socio-economic and cultural life to the lowest possible level, ceding this place to NGO’s whilst in parallel develop their policies and strategies in a way to have their respective communities have a direct participation in their socioeconomic and cultural development. As it is the case in various countries’ successful examples, despite various problems and complications they face, the non governmental organizations (NGO’s) in Turkey are also putting their signatures under projects pertaining to socio economic and cultural development, thus representing an important potential in this domain. In this article, taking the growing role of the NGO’s in the socio-economic and cultural development as the starting point, the article aims to open a debate on the effect of these organizations in our day when democratic values are taking a predominant place.
