İzmir Körfezi sedimentlerinde direkt mutajenlerin belirlenmesi

Bu çalışmada, Ekim 1995-Aralık 1995 tarihleri arasında izmir Körfezi'nin iç, orta ve dış kısımlarından seçilen istasyonlardan alınan sediment örneklerinde S. typhimurium TA 98 ve TA 100 suşları ile Ames'in mutajenite testi uygulanmıştır.Test sonucuna göre, körfezin iç kısmına dökülen olan dere ve kanalizasyonlar, taşıdıkları kirlilik yükü sebebi ile körfez için mutajenik aktivite kaynağı teşkil etmektedirler. Mutajenik aktivitenin iç körfezden orta kısma doğru seyreldiği tespit edilmiştir. Dış Körfez'de tespit edilen mutajenik aktivite, Gediz Nehri'nin taşıdığı kirlilik yüküne ve Doku sahasının etkisine bağlanmıştır.lzmir iç, orta ve dış körfez kısımları arasında yapılan istatistik çalışmalarında büyük farklılıklar bulunmuştur.

Determination of direct mutagens in sediment samples of İzmir Bay

In this study, Ames'Mutagenicity test using TA98 and TA100 strains of S. typhimurium was applied to the sediment samples obtained from inner, middle and outer parts of Izmir Bay during the period of October-December 1995. The results of the study shows that the streams and sewer system draining into the Bay are the source of mutagenic activity for it due to the pollutioned discharges they have. It has been observed that the mutagenic activity was getting diluted from the inner part to the middle part of the Bay. Mutagenic activity observed in the outer part of Izmir Bay was attributed to the pollution load of Gediz River and the effect of the discharge Area for the loads drained from inner Bay's bottom. Statistical analysis among different parts of Izmir Bay has demonstrated meaningful differences.
