A study on octopus handilines made from different materials

In this study, catching efficiency of octopus handlines which are made from white polyethylene and bright chrome was investigated. Study was conducted 1998-1999 fishing season in three different areas, Mersin Inlet, lldir Bay and Urla- iskele in Izmir, Turkey. Caught octopus max. mantle length was measured 21cm. and min. mantle length was 9 cm. Octopus Handline made from .white polyethlene has 59% catching efficiency, chrome one has 41% was found.
