Competencies of Physical Educators Toward Inclusive Physical Education

Inclusion in general education is widespread phenomenain most European countries, North America and growingnumber of countries worldwide. However there is limitednumber of studies focused on description of determinantsof successful inclusive physical education. Relatively common finding among studies in different countries is: (a) lackof perceived competence among physical educators and(b) lack of support resources/services for general physical educators in inclusive PE. The aim of this presentation isto provide frameworks for developing professional competencies related to inclusion in physical education. First theframework for general physical educators will be providedfollowed by competencies for adapted physical educators.These two will be discussed in relation to professional competencies for general teachers, possible employments forAPE graduates and study programs in the USA and EU.
